Product Development
Valens’ technology platform offers proprietary molecule candidates in preclinical development. Current therapeutic areas of focus include lead molecules for the potential treatment of neovascular diseases of the eye, cancer, and diseases caused by infectious pathogens such as viruses and bacteria.
Ocular Diseases
Several lead molecules that target the domain of proteins involved and overexpressed in several pathological conditions of the eye are in preclinical development to create a novel multi-targeted therapeutic for the potential treatment of age related macular degeneration and the advanced stage, choroidal neovascularization.
Cancer
Lead molecules that target the domain of a variety of growth factors and their receptors and which are involved in different pathways that lead to abnormal proliferation of blood vessels and cancer, are in preclinical development. Several candidate molecules are being evaluated for their ability to inhibit human endothelial cells.
HIV-1 Therapeutic Vaccine
The company's technology platform includes molecules that target major HIV proteins including gp120 and gp41, tat, integrase and protease. These molecules are aimed to halt HIV-1 fusion and entry into the host cell and disrupt proteins important for viral function and survival. The company is evaluating several candidates on viral infectivity assays to determine their ability to neutralize and kill the virus.
