Product Development
Valens’ proprietary molecules offer a technology platform with candidates in preclinical development. Current therapeutic areas of focus for Valens products include angiogenesis inhibitors for neovascular diseases of the eye, and cancer, and a therapeutic compound with prophylactic activities for the treatment of HIV-1.
Anti-Angiogenesis
The angiogenesis inhibitors are for multiple indications in areas of ophthalmology and oncology, and consist of proprietary small molecules that specifically target endothelial cells and several growth factors and their receptors and other signaling molecules that are known to be involved in the abnormal proliferation of blood vessels and cancer. The company is evaluating the potency and efficacy of its proprietary product candidates on neovascular disorders in the eye and in cancer.
HIV-1 Therapeutic Vaccine
The anti-HIV therapeutic consists of small molecules that specifically target major HIV proteins including gp120 and gp41 envelope proteins and the tat, integrase and protease proteins. These molecules are aimed to specifically halt HIV-1 fusion and entry into the host cell. The company is evaluating its proprietary product candidates on viral infectivity assays to determine their potency to neutralize and kill the virus.
